Amit Lalwani
I am a third year PhD student in the diabetes, obesity and endocrinology research team at Westmead Institute for Medical Research. My research is focused on improving pancreatic islet cell transplant outcomes so people with type 1 diabetes enjoy a better quality of life. I am also interested in investigating the various immunological causes that lead to the onset of autoimmune type 1 diabetes. As a type 1 diabetic myself, the drive to find a cure for type 1 diabetes is very personal for me.
